Fur Babies

OSCAR

This is Oscar. He is a living fur baby. My sister Claire and her partner Bryce belong to Oscar. He rewards them often for their love and support by bringing gifts of various rodents, birds and baby bunnies that he has hunted in the fiields behind their house in Holme in the UK. The neighbours are a convenient source of food and attention when he's feeling lonely.

This painting was a Graduation present for Claire and Bryce. I took it with me when I went to visit recently. My Dad does picture framing in the UK, and he framed it for presentation to Oscars family at their gradiation dinner. Thank you!

Oscar passed away early April 2014. He is missed.

TORI

This is Tori. She has been visiting me since her human Hilda asked me to paint her. I often felt a cold nose on my foot and I would check to see which of my dogs was sniffing my feet and there was no dog-body there! I would feel a warm presence on my foot and Hilda confirmed for me that she was one of a pair of 'slippers' that she had and she would often have one Scotty dog on each foot! Tori passed away a month ago while Hilda was away. Her little warm physical-ness is sorely missed.

 MONTY

This fur baby died in 2009. His mom is still struggling with out him. But since she receievd her painting of him, she feels so connected to him, and she is healing.

Monty was the first deceased animal besides my Fynn that contacted me and really wanted to be painted. I woke up with his image in my mind before I saw his photo. I thought I was supposed to be painting my own dog called Monty who died 3 years ago but I instantly recognised that the Monty in my head was not mine. I remembered I had just met someone who was still grieving and her dog was a Monty. She sent me pictures and I recognised him instantly. He woke me up every morning at 4:30 to paint him. I remember I finished Monty's painting on a Saturday morning and she came to 'visit' him in the sfternoon, and after lots of tears she convinced me that she couldn't leave with out him. I carefully stuck him onto stiff cardboard so he was safe and I was still trying to sign the painting as she was driving down the driveway!

JULES

This is Juliette. She died in 2009. Once my friend Traci asked me to paint Jules, I kept seeing an eye peering at me. Not a real eye, of course, but an etheric eye, and I had a sense of her colouring. When I saw the photos of her, I recognised her. But still she was a real challenge and didnt want to sit still to be painted. Traci said that it was in her character to be difficult, and I definately got a sense of that!  I had to give her an ultimatum to get on the canvas or else...! And she did, in a few days... Amazing....

Forest

My friends Sharyn & Lance McNeil belonged to Forest. She died 2 months ago on 26/6/2012, so soon after my Fynn. I knew I had to paint her after feeling dog on my hands constantly and smelling wet dog when there was none around. She was a very licky dog, very friendly and always eager to please. She was always wet either from swimming in the pool or the river. She was a great big girl with such a soft gentle heart. She is missed very much.

Rest In Peace Sweet-Heart.

Rama
Jo, Dean & Eowyn belonged to Rama. He was such a loving kitty and even came for cuddles when called. He loved everyone and visited the neighbours regularily. Sadly he was run over about 3 years ago. He visited Jo one night some time later, when she felt a cat jump on the bed, and there was no one there. He is missed still...

 Gracie
This is Gracie. My mom belonged to her. Gracie left us some years back after struggling with a debilitating skin disorder which her humans tried for 6 years to cure her from. She is a sweet girl and I felt her with me everyday whilst we were painting her picture until some time last week. She slept in the hollow between my knees and my chest when I slept on my left side at night. My mom confirmed that that was her favorite spot when she was well. I am not sure when she left last week, but I knew we would finish her  painting this weekend. It was such a pleasure to have Gracie come to visit.

I will add other fur babies as I go...
